LEAGUE RULES




ALL DIVISIONS: 


    1. Games must start at the designated times.

    2. 5 Run rule for ALL Innings(no open inning in league games)

    3. Courtesy runner will be used for the catcher when there are two outs. The last player to have been put out shall be used as the runner.

    4. ALL players, coaches, and umpires are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from smoking or using any type of tobacco products in the vicinity of the ballpark. Use of chewing gum and sunflower seeds amongst players in the game is also prohibited.

    5. Slide and avoid rule is in effect. If there is a close play at second, third or home the runner must slide or avoid, or they will be called out and may be ejected from the game. A defensive player is not allowed to block the base path if a runner is approaching.

    6. Harassment or abuse of teammates, opposition team members or officials will not be tolerated and may result in suspension.

    7. Harassment or abuse of EXECUTIVE MEMBERS may also result in suspension.

    8.**MITES**ONLY 1st and 3rd inning a player pitches and the 2nd and 4th inning the coach  pitches or pitching machine.

    9.**MITES**ONLY 4 inning only played per game.

    10. It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure a fair balance of infield and outfield play.(when safe)The Coach will try to accommodate all player''''s position requests whenever possible and within the players ability to safely play the position. Peewee, Bantam & Midget players are expected to be playing 1 or 2 positions at this age(does not have to be infield and outfield)

 

      1. Any number of defensive substitutions are allowed during the game.

      2. All Players must remain in the dug out when not at bat, on deck or in the field unless they are warming up to go into the game.

      3. You can play the game with 7 players.

      4. Base stealing is allowed in Squirts, Peewee,Bantam and Midget.

      5. **MITES** NO STEALING

      6. HOME TEAM is responsible for raking the field and putting away the equipment.

      7. Coaches: Please instruct your field parents to rake after the games.

      8. NO FOOD in the dugouts.

      9. BATTING:

      • ALL players must bat, and are to be listed in the line-up in the order they are to bat. The batting order is to remain constant throughout the game.

      • Any players not listed in the batting order arriving late shall be placed at the bottom of the order.

      • Any player listed in the batting order arriving late after his first scheduled turn at bat must wait until official turn before batting.

      • **MITES** ONLY 6 pitches when the coach or pitching machine is pitching. If they have not hit after 6 pitches, they are out. A batter who fouls off their last pitch remains at bat until she strikes out or hits fairly.

      • Bunting is allowed.


  1. PITCHING:

      - **players that want to pitch need to practice at home!!

      - DVD''''s are available to help with technique.

      -advise pitchers-PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE!!!

      -Pitching is a very important part of fastpitch so coaches need to develop the pitchers.(Utilize your parents to run other drills to help while you help the pitchers and catchers.)



    21. EQUIPMENT:

      • Jills(athletic cup) MUST be worn at ALL times.

      • Players and coaches warming up pitchers between innings must wear a full mask.

      • Batters, on deck batters, base runners and players must wear a helmet with cage when batting.

      • Catchers must wear throat protectors and full catchers gear.

      • All players MUST WEAR FULL UNIFORM at all games. This indicates hats, shorts, jersey, and socks.(approved uniforms by executive only)Players will be given ONE WARNING and will not be allowed to play the second time.

      • All jerseys must be tucked in and jewelry removed while on the field of play.

      • HELMETS are to have FACE GUARD.

      • Approved SOFTBALL/FASTPITCH Bats only.(must say certified)

      • Proper foot wear.(runners or cleats only)

      • MOUTHGUARDS are MANDATORY.


22. Financials:

Fund raising for your team, you must submit your financial to the executive by the end of the season. Please see fund raising in season and fund raising out of season in the coaches packages of rules and regulations.


23. Score Book to be handed in at the end of the year.



24. TOURNAMENTS:

You are responsible as a team to pay for your tournaments.

www.softball.bc.ca has a list of tournaments.


25. DISTRICTS:

      Squirts, Peewee, Bantam, Midget ONLY

You will need, player BIRTH CERTIFICATES, SCOREBOOK, PINK ROOSTER sheet from registrar, and your entrance FEE $$(PMFSA will pay).
